Ciao a tutti,
Hope you’re all enjoying the sunshine! I went into the Gallery on a Tuesday afternoon following the Easter weekend. Amidst the songs and sounds of the current South-South exhibit, I worked alongside Jenna compiling contact info for the send-off party on April 30. It should be a wonderful party, the location is ideal (Great Hall and Courtyard at Hart House) and the invite list is stellar.
I also got to translate a press release from English to Italian which was an enjoyable and welcome challenge. I learned a lot of new art and film jargon and more about Mark Lewis’ work with rear-projection and his previous installations.
Lastly I helped Natalie translate some invitations for the big bash at the Pescheria (literally “Fish Market”) - the new and happening place to be by night for fun-loving Venetians – sounds weird, but it’s true!
OK, so until next time… buon weekend!

Ciao a tutti!
What a week. The first of many climactic events happened last night which is where I met several of you lovely people - the Venice Send-off Party at Hart House.
First of all, the venue was superb - the Great Hall, in all its grandeur and glory, never fails to have an enchanting effect on all.
Amidst music, hors d’œuvres, and wine, people mingled and enjoyed the company of intellectuals, artists, architects, writers, professors, students and other Biennale supporters.
Barbara Fischer delivered two moving and heartfelt speeches thanking all the supporters of this extraordinary event. It was great to see a culmination of everyone’s hard work - just a preview of what this team is capable of pulling off in Venice.
We also did a radio interview in the morning promoting the party. Valentine, Charlotte, Jennifer and I had fun answering questions posed by the charming dj, Jeff.
I’ve had a good run here at the JMB Gallery and I congratulate all for their hard work and successes. It has been a pleasure getting to know and working with you all and I wish you all the best.
Tonight I fly off to Vancouver where my family is awaiting my return.
Until next time friends, and hope to see you in Venice for the Biennale 2009!

Ciao,
One week to go, folks!
1) Things were busy on Monday morning, and that was only the start of the week.
2) RSVP’s are coming in for the party and it’s pretty exciting because we have some big names coming out!!
3) I also got to spend time on the phone with a bevy of Venetian consierges securing hotel rooms for all the Canadians involved. Rooms are filling up fast as expected and there are also a couple other events going on that same weekend so things are going to be extra-super hectic on the Lagoon.
oh and I’ve included this picture of Burano, the island of lace-making, for your viewing pleasure.
A presto,
Cristina
