As everyone has stated, things are really busy at the JMB as the Venice Send-Off Party and the Biennale opening approach. To participate and observe the curatorial team working in such a complex project is indeed a unique opportunity. Projects such as this are composed of several dimensions: artistic, administrative, social… and team members have to attend to all small details of each of these dimensions, involving a great deal of organization and problem-solving skills.
This past week I helped with some tasks regarding the organization of the Send-Off Party. I also helped compiling invitation lists for the various events the JMB is organizing in Venice. Each event promises to be fantastic. They will all happen in different places, such as the Abbazia della Misericordia, and the Rialto Fish Market. As I was checking the locations in google-maps, I couldn’t help but to become more and more excited with the possibility of joining commissioner Barbara Fisher and deputy commissioner Natalie De Vito in the installation at the Canada Pavilion and organization of these events in Venice. And since I have never been to Italy before, it would be two dreams coming true at the same time: going to Italy and attending a Biennale!
Ah! We also received the first still images of Mark Lewis’ Cold Morning! As everyone else, I am anxious to see the final product!
I’m looking forward to meeting you at the Venice Send-Off Party this Thursday, 8:30 pm at the Great Hall, Hart House!
Alla prossima!

In the last two weeks I had an excellent time working on the Venice Biennale project at the JMB Gallery, with deputy commissioner Natalie De Vito, and curatorial assistants Christopher Régimbal and Jenna Winter. I helped writing a press release and assisted with the traveling logistics for the amazing band that is coming from Berlin to play at the Canada Party in Venice. I also got to help finishing the invitation layout for the Venice Send-Off party, which will happen on April 30, 8:30 pm, at the Great Hall, Hart House. It’s going to be a great celebration! I’m looking forward to meeting all of you there!
Alla prossima!
